Family Ministry

Celebrating the Family

Our desire is to respond to the needs and interests of families within our community with the relevance of Christianity. We wish to foster an atmosphere that embraces the virtues of a loving family—acceptance, nurture, and forgiveness. In doing so, we will provide a place where singles, couples, parents, senior adults and children/youth can enjoy a strong sense of belonging. Our task is to build godly families through discipleship so we might effectively proclaim the Gospel through every area of life and serve as a beacon of light in a dark world. Covenant Church is committed to being “one family under God.”

LifeNet Small Groups

Would you like to be connected to Christian brothers and sisters? Would you like to make friends that will be there to help you celebrate in good times and lend a hand (and a prayer) in the bad? Would you like to have a non-threatening place to bring co-workers and friends who are curious about God but are not ready to go to church? LifeNet small groups are for you! They meet throughout the week in and around Charlottesville. Visit the LifeNet page for specific information about the groups. You'll be glad you did.

Ages 0-12

Children at Covenant Church are ministered to through Kids Church, Jr. Kid's Church, Sunday Bible Study, and Vacation Bible School. Our curriculum is designed to be developmentally age-appropriate. The format of service in these times of worship is patterned after the adult Sunday morning service. Children pray, sing corporate worship, listen to the Word, have activities, and give an offering. Plus Kids Explosion every other month, summer camp, children's choir and much more.

Fine Arts

Our worship ministries provide an atmosphere where anyone can feel comfortable worshiping the Lord. Our worship leaders, worship teams, praise bands, orchestra, and choir provide the leadership as we enter into God's presence each service.

Exuberant celebration, as well as reverent awe, describes the characteristics of our praise to God. Hymns and praise choruses, in a variety of musical styles, provide a vehicle for us to join our voices as one. We place an emphasis on speaking to today's generation, as well as the ones to come. Join us in praise to an audience of one... Jesus!

Music

Our sanctuary choir, band, and orchestra are talented singers and musicians who are committed to lifting up the name of Jesus! Each Sunday they lead us in worship. Using a variety of musical styles, they bring us into God's presence and prepare hearts to receive the Word of God from our Pastor. They have presented numerous pageants and dramatic musicals, which have ministered to the community.

Rehearsal times are listed in the activities section of Covenant's weekly newsletter, The Pastor's Heart.

The Breath of Life Gospel Ensemble spreads the gospel through song, and has performed in and around Charlottesville, as well as overseas.

Drama

Powerful musical dramas have been a part of Covenant Church for many years. Productions, which include drama, and multimedia presentations, are designed to communicate the message of Jesus Christ and invite the audience to worship Him.

Throughout the year we celebrate our Lord through pageants during Christmas, Easter, and other special occasions. Children, teenagers, and adults are all involved in using their talents to glorify God. We invite anyone interested to join us in the following worship arts: Drama, creative movement, multimedia, and songwriting.

Outreach / Mission Ministries

Covenant Church is passionate about mission work in the local community and around the world. In an effort to maximize resources and serve people in need, Covenant has formed strong relationships with numerous other churches and organizations. Working cooperatively prevents duplication and encourages efficiency and accountability.

The following list of outreaches is not intended to be exhaustive but indicative of the scope of efforts by our congregants.

We support mission projects and missionaries on a regular basis. Our projects change as needs change, but we are a people determined to help carry the gospel to all people. We host an annual international mission conference, usually at the end of February. Along with giving, we also offer the missionaries a time of refreshment and training.

Not being contented with just sending, we encourage our members to go. There are usually several short-term trips, state-side and abroad, each year.

You can read Mission Updates from those returning from trips.
